The Team
Brad Landes has over 37 years of financial markets experience and prior to co-founding ADV, Brad was Managing Director and Deputy Head of Asia for Mount Kellett Capital and was a member of the Global Investment Committee. Previously, Brad was Managing Director at J.P. Morgan Securities where he was Head of Risk Taking and Trading for J.P. Morgan’s Asia Special Situations Group and High Yield businesses. Earlier, Brad worked as Head of Asian Local Markets Debt Trading at Citicorp Investment Bank in Singapore and Vice President at Bear Stearns in Hong Kong. Brad began his career in credit research at Morgan Guaranty Trust and agency debt trading at J.P. Morgan in New York.
Brad holds an MBA in Finance and International Business from The Stern Graduate School of Business, New York University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Boston University.
Jianyi Zhu has over 25 years of experience in the finance industry and prior to co-founding ADV, Jianyi was Managing Director and Head of Greater China for Mount Kellett Capital and was a member of Global Investment Committee. Previously, Jianyi was Managing Director and Head of Greater China for Deutsche Bank’s Global Credit Trading Division, leading its private equity, structured finance and commodities businesses. Prior to Deutsche Bank, Jianyi was a founding member of Goldman Sachs Asia Special Situations Group’s China Team. Jianyi began his career in the investment banking division of Goldman Sachs Japan where he subsequently became part of the founding team of Goldman Sachs Principal Investment Group in Japan.
Jianyi holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Waseda University. He is fluent in English, Chinese and Japanese.
Suresh Prabhala has over 24 years of experience in the finance industry and prior to co-founding ADV, Suresh was Managing Director and Head of India for Mount Kellett Capital and was a member of Global Investment Committee. Previously, Suresh was an Executive Director and Head of India for J.P. Morgan’s Asia Special Situations Group, where he was also part of the Asia Management Committee for the Asia Special Situations Group and represented the group on the Management Committee of J.P. Morgan India. Earlier, Suresh worked with Arthur Andersen’s Corporate Finance team and was a founding member of Allegro Capital Advisors (a new advisory outfit created by a team from Arthur Andersen’s Corporate Finance team post-Enron). Suresh began his career as a credit analyst at CRISIL in India.
Suresh holds an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management in Calcutta and a Bachelor of in Mechanical Engineering from Delhi University. He is fluent in English, Hindi and Telugu.
Arun Kumar has over 25 years of experience in the financial services industry and is responsible for overseeing finance, legal, compliance, risk management, human resources, IT, operations and providing structuring, tax and operational support to investment transactions. Prior to ADV, Arun was the COO – MENA at PineBridge Investments (Bahrain) and the CFO with the Sovereign Wealth Fund (Bahrain). Prior to that, Arun was the Operations Director Asia with 3i Investments (Singapore). Earlier, Arun was the Vice President and Head of Tax (South & Southeast Asia) with J.P. Morgan (Singapore).
Arun holds an MBA from University of Chicago Booth School of Business and is an Associate Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. Arun is also a member of the Singapore Institute of Directors. He is fluent in English and Tamil and conversational in Hindi.
Bo Liu has over 24 years of experience in the financial services sector and leads ADV’s coverage of China. Prior to ADV, Bo served as Chief Investment Officer of Wanda Investment, focusing on Wanda Group’s M&A and investment activities. Prior to Wanda Investment, Bo served as a Senior Managing Director at CVC Capital Partners Asia as well as in senior roles at CITIC Capital and Ewing Management Group. Earlier, Bo also worked as a management consultant at Bain & Company and A.T. Kearney in China, Australia and the United States.
Bo holds an MBA from University of Michigan and a Bachelor’s in Finance and Economics from Robert Morris College. He is fluent in English and Chinese.
Manoj Sehrawat has over 21 years of experience in financial services and leads ADV’s coverage of India. Manoj has been with ADV since inception and is part of the founding team. Prior to ADV, Manoj was a Vice President with J.P. Morgan’s Asia Special Situations Group and played a key role in sourcing, analyzing, structuring and executing investment opportunities as well as asset management of Indian portfolio companies. Previously, Manoj worked at ARCIL (India’s largest asset reconstruction company) and Dimensions Consulting (a boutique sell-side advisory firm).
Manoj holds a Bachelor's in Commerce from Delhi University and is a Chartered Accountant from Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. He is fluent in English and Hindi.
Rahul Bhargava has over 19 years of experience in investment roles on the buy-side and leads ADV’s coverage of South-east Asia. Prior to ADV, Rahul was a Director at KKR, responsible for credit and special situations in Southeast Asia. His prior investment experience also includes providing private equity and structured financing for mid-market companies in Southeast Asia at Leafgreen Capital and Henderson Global Investors, where he was one of the founding members of the Asian private equity business.
Rahul holds an MBA from the Australian Graduate School of Management in Sydney and a Bachelor of Economics from St. Xavier’s College in Kolkata. Rahul is a CFA Charterholder.
Andrew holds a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) degree and a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) degree from the University of Melbourne. Andrew is a qualified lawyer in Hong Kong and England & Wales. He is fluent in English, Mandarin and Cantonese.
John Malliris has over 22 years of experience in the finance industry and leads ADV’s coverage of South-east Asia. Prior to ADV, John was an Executive Director with J.P. Morgan’s Asia Special Situations Group where he led a team responsible for deal origination, execution and asset management for Southeast Asian and Australasian investments. Previously, John was a Director with Asia Mezzanine Capital and was also an Assistant Director with Prudential Asia Infrastructure Investors. John began his career as an investment banking analyst with Peregrine Capital.
John holds an MBA in Financial Management from MIT Sloan School of Management and a Master's in Medical Science as well as a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from Boston University. He is fluent in English and Greek.
Mayank Agarwal has over 11 years of experience in financial services and covers the India market for ADV. Prior to ADV, Mayank was an Analyst with Everstone Capital. Previously, he was with J.P. Morgan and Frost & Sullivan.
Mayank holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Management from Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar, and a Bachelor's in Economics from the University of Calcutta. He is fluent in English and Hindi.
May Ho has over 20 years of experience in the financial services industry. Prior to ADV, May was Vice President at UOB Asset Management. Previously, she worked at ADV Partners as Vice President of Regional Operations, Havenport Asset Management, 3i Asia and UOB Venture Management.
May holds a Bachelor of Business and Management Studies from the University of Bradford. She is fluent in English and Chinese.
Jinho Kim has over 12 years of experience in financial services industry. Prior to ADV, Jinho was a Principal with STIC Investments and he began his career with Korea Exchange Bank in Korea.
Jinho holds an MBA from China Europe International Business School and a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from Hankuk University of Foreign Studies. He is fluent in English and Korean.
Chloe Lee has over 16 years of experience in human resource management and is responsible for human resources and information technology functions at ADV. Prior to ADV, Chloe was Vice President, Human Capital at Fullerton Fund Management Company Limited. Previously, she worked at ADV Partners, APS Asset Management, Noble Group, Macquarie Capital and HSBC Singapore.
Chloe holds a Post-Graduate Diploma in Social Psychology and Counselling from Aventis Business School and a Bachelor of Business in Human Resources Consulting from the Nanyang Technological University. She is fluent in English and Mandarin
Gaurav Podar has over 12 years of experience in financial services and covers the India market for ADV. Prior to ADV, Gaurav was a Vice President with Tata Opportunities Fund. Previously, he was a founding member of AION Capital Partners.
Gaurav is a management graduate and holds a Bachelor's in Management Studies from the Mumbai University. He is fluent in English and Hindi.
Nelson Wei has over 15 years of experience in the financial services industry and covers the China market for ADV. Prior to ADV, Nelson was an Executive Director and Head of Greater China Region at 3M, where he led overall investments and M&A for China, Southeast Asia and North Asia regions. Previously, he was with Clarity Partners, Crosslink Capital, Jefferies and Google.
Nelson holds a Bachelor’s in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley. He is fluent in English and Chinese.
Hongfei Yan has over 10 years of experience in the financial services industry and covers the China market for ADV. Prior to ADV, Hongfei was a Vice President at Deutsche Bank Strategic Investment Group, the principal investment team of Deutsche Bank in China. Previously, he was with KKR Capstone and McKinsey & Co.
Hongfei holds a Master’s in Biochemical Engineering from Tsinghua University and a double Master’s degree in Engineering from Ecole Centrale de Lille. He is fluent in English and Chinese.
Abhishek Gupta has over 5 years of experience in consulting and financial services. Prior to ADV, Abhishek was a Consultant at McKinsey & Co. Previously, Abhishek was with Reliance Capital and J.P. Morgan.
Abhishek holds an MBA from the India Institute of Management, Lucknow and a Bachelor’s in Engineering from Delhi University. Abhishek has cleared all 3 levels of CFA. He is fluent in English and Hindi.
Alex Luk has over 5 years of experience in legal services across M&A, private equity, and capital markets transactions. Prior to ADV, Alex was an Associate at Fangda Partners where he advised on private equity and M&A transactions. Previously, Alex was seconded to Alibaba Group Holding Limited in Hong Kong as legal counsel and was with DLA Piper Hong Kong.
Alex holds a Bachelor of Law (Honors) from Durham University in the United Kingdom. Alex is fluent in English, Mandarin and Cantonese.
Oscar He has over 9 years of experience in the financial services industry. Prior to ADV, Oscar was a Director and Head of Investments at YooZoo Group in Shanghai. Previously, Oscar was with Lunar Capital, Lufax Holding (under Ping An Insurance) and PwC Consulting.
Oscar holds a Master of Science in Accounting & Finance from the University of Manchester and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Sichuan University. He is fluent in English and Chinese.
Jeffrey Jim has over 6 years of experience in financial services. Prior to ADV, Jeffrey was with Deutsche Bank and Macquarie Capital in Hong Kong.
Jeffrey holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Global Business and Finance (First Class Honors) from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. He is fluent in English and Chinese.
Ranjan Panda has over 9 years of experience in financial services. Prior to ADV, Ranjan was an Associate with CDC India Advisers. Previously, Ranjan was with Edelweiss Capital and Deutsche Bank in Mumbai.
Ranjan holds an MBA from the India Institute of Management, Kozhikode and a Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay. He is fluent in in English and Hindi and conversational in Odia.
Joshua L. Van Dyke has over 10 years of experience in the finance industry. Prior to ADV, Joshua worked on the Special Situations team at KKR as a Summer Associate. Previously, Joshua was with Sprint Capital, Deutsche Bank and BNP Paribas in Asia.
Joshua holds an MBA from the Wharton School and a Master of Arts in International Studies from the Lauder Institute of University of Pennsylvania. He is fluent in English and Chinese.
Xiaolan Xu has over 6 years of experience in financial services. Prior to ADV, Xiaolan was an Associate with China Minsheng Financial Holding. Previously, Xiaolan worked at the Investment Banking Division of J.P. Morgan, and she began her career as an Analyst at Barclays Investment Bank.
Xiaolan holds a Master of Science in Applied Economics and Management from Cornell University and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Renmin University. She is fluent in English and Chinese and conversational in French.
Elynn Thia has over 7 years of experience in financial services. Prior to ADV, Elynn was with SS&C and PricewaterhouseCoopers LLC Singapore.
Elynn holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honors) in Accounting Programme from University of Hertfordshire and is both a Chartered Accountant, Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants, and a Chartered Certified Accountant (FCCA), Association of Chartered Certified Accountants. She is fluent in English and Chinese.
